Thank you, Salem

On behalf of National Grid and the Salem Cable Project Team, we wanted to take a moment to express our sincere gratitude for your patience and cooperation throughout the span of this important infrastructure project.

Successful completion of an underground transmission project, like the Salem Cable Project, requires input and assistance from many different parties. Selecting qualified, and conscientious construction contractors is the first step, but without the input and cooperation of community partners and municipal leaders, projects often struggle to stay on schedule and can create their own "headaches" along the way.

From start of construction in 2015, the Salem Cable Project has worked with a number of groups in Salem. From neighborhood associations to the Salem Chamber, the feedback that we gathered throughout the project has guided many of the decisions we've made.

These decisions ranged from formulating the construction sequence to schedule adjustments and we recognize that we couldn't have made them without input from the community. Specifically, we would like to highlight the work of the City's Salem Cable Project Working Group and thank them for their regular guidance.

We understand that the Salem Cable Project was not without hiccups, but we hope that through our work in the community we've demonstrated our willingness to be good community partners by mitigating as many inconveniences as was possible. With the Salem Cable Project now complete, we look forward to continuing to deliver reliable electricity to Salem and North Shore communities for years to come.

If you have any questions you can still contact a member of our team via our toll-free hotline at 844-SALEM-CABLE, or through the "Contact Us" feature on our website at salemcableproject.com.

Sincerely,

The Salem Cable Project

Dear Neighbors -

We wanted to check in with brief reminder that construction at the Canal Street Substation is on hold until crews return in early-March.

When our contractors return in the spring, the remaining action items will include finishing the final section of the retaining wall, landscaping, adding one final piece of lighting, and installing a new perimeter fence.

We may check back periodically with newsletter updates between now and the start of springtime construction, but you can expect to see our newsletter frequency decrease. Please note, however, that our outreach team is still available to take your questions via our toll-free hotline at 844-SALEM-CABLE or through the "Contact Us" feature on our website at salemcableproject.com.

Sincerely,

The Salem Cable Project Outreach Team

Dear Neighbors -

The first retaining-wall at the Canal Street Substation is complete!

With that good news, contractors have shifted their focus to the second retaining wall, now being built at the back end of the substation. Barring unforeseen issues, we anticipate the construction of the southern half of this wall will extend into mid-January. Construction of the northern half of the wall has been scheduled to take place in early March.

As previously noted, once the retaining walls have been built in the spring, a substantial landscaping upgrade is planned at the substation. Additional lighting and a new perimeter fence are also on the agenda for springtime construction.

In the coming weeks, we plan to keep you apprised of any schedule changes that may occurs as a result of worsening winter weather. In the meantime, if you have any questions about ongoing or upcoming work, please feel free to be in touch via our toll-free hotline at 844-SALEM-CABLE, or through the "Contact Us" feature on our website at salemcableproject.com.

Sincerely,

The Salem Cable Project Outreach Team

Dear Neighbors -

As you may have noticed, contractors have started construction on the first of two retaining walls at the Canal Street Substation. Barring any unforeseen issues, the first wall should be in place by mid-week. Once it's complete, contractors will begin building the second, which will run along the back end of the substation. Stay tuned for more details as information from the work site becomes available!

Crews are working to get as much done as they can before freezing temperatures and snow limit construction activities, but, as previously mentioned, there remains the possibility that parts of the retaining wall construction process may be rescheduled for the upcoming calendar year.

As always, if you have questions about any of our work, feel free to be in touch via our toll-free hotline at 844-SALEM-CABLE or through the "Contact Us" feature on our website at salemcableproject.com.

Sincerely,

Dear Neighbors -

Retaining-wall construction resumes today. Barring any unforeseen issues, contractors are looking to complete the first wall in approximately one week. Once it's done, contractors will begin constructing the second, larger wall along the back end of the substation; as this is a significantly longer wall, workers will need three to four weeks to finish that work.

Our contractors plan to undertake as much retaining-wall construction as they can between now and the first substantial snow fall, but please note that work schedules depend on a generally favorable weather outlook—as well as timely delivery of materials—and there is the possibility that parts of the retaining wall construction process may be rescheduled for the next calendar year.

We'll share more information about the upcoming work at the substation as it becomes available.

As always, if you have questions about any of our work, feel free to be in touch via our toll-free hotline at 844-SALEM-CABLE or through the "Contact Us" feature on our website at salemcableproject.com.

Dear Neighbors -

We hope you had a enjoyable Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Just a quick reminder that retaining-wall construction is expected to resume during the first or second week of December; once work is underway, contractors will need approximately one week to complete the first of the two retaining walls planned for the substation.

As you know, once the first wall has been completed, contractors will begin constructing the second, larger wall, which will run along the back end of the substation. Due to the length of this wall, contractors will need three to four weeks to to finish that work. Please note that these work schedules depend on a favorable weather outlook—as well as timely delivery of materials—and there is the possibility that parts of the retaining wall construction process may be rescheduled for the next calendar year.

We'll plan to share more information about the upcoming work at the substation as it becomes available.
